Car battery chargers are used to charge up flat car batteries. In order for a car amplifier to power on, it requires 12 volts from a power source. The car battery charger is capable of providing 12 volts, so you can use it to power on your car amp. Car battery chargers come in many different amp ratings. The higher the amp rating on your car battery charger, the higher you can turn up the gain without it cutting out.
1) A car battery charger will have two crocodile clips connected to it. One will be red, which is the Positive and the other will be black, which is the Negative. Connect the red crocodile clip onto the red power lead connected to the amp. Connect the black crocodile clip onto the ground lead connect to the amp.
2) The car amplifier needs a remote signal to power on. Since you wont be using an head unit, use a small piece of electrical wire to create a jumper between the power and remote wire terminals. This will trick the amp to tell itself to switch on.
3) Plug the car battery charger into the nearest wall socket available and switch it on. If your car battery charger has a switch to adjust charging speeds, ensure that it is set to the fastest setting. This will increase the amount of current flow to the amp to keep up with electrical demands.
